PACLS Course - Principles of Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(4 hours) Level 5.
This course is intended as a 4 hour refresher covering the basics of Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The course curriculum assumes that you know and understand Basic Life Support and that you have professional training in a health care related profession such as medicine or nursing. It is specifically tailored to meet the needs of both community-based and hospital-based health professionals.
THIS COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
- Basic Life Support for Health Professionals (includes infant, child and adult resuscitation)
- Patient Assessment
- Advanced Airway Management assessed to laryngeal mask airway level
- Pharmacology in Resuscitation
- Role of early defibrillation
- AED & Manual defibrillation
- Resuscitation Scene Management & Algorithms
- ECG Recognition of shockable and non-shockable rhythms
- Written multi-choice exam
This course has been endorsed by the RNZCGP for 4 hours = 4 credits. This course also meets the compulsory resuscitation skills RNZCGP MOPS and GPEP2. Successful participants are issued a certificate of competency to New Zealand Resuscitation Council Standards Level 5.
Our courses can be facilitated at our training facility, your site or at another venue anywhere in New Zealand (conditions apply).

PREREQUISITE: Health Professional qualification required
