Geoff Sim 021 023 02142 geoff@emcare.co.nz
Geoff qualified as a Registered Comprehensive Nurse in 1996, and has worked in a variety of roles including Adult and Paediatric Neurosciences, Paediatric Intensive Care, Post Anaesthetic Care, Resuscitation Training and as a Nurse Educator. Geoff is currently employed as a Clinical Charge Nurse in an Adult Emergency Department. He has had extensive experience in simulation based training and is a New Zealand Resuscitation Council CORE Advanced instructor, as well as previously being an American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor. He has a passion for coaching, and supporting people through resuscitation and in the teaching of human factors. When not actively involved in resuscitation at the hospital he works at, Geoff is a co-owner of Emcare Services Ltd and a volunteer/casual Paramedic. Geoffs' aim is to give people the skills to deal with the unexpected in a fun, relaxed learning environment.

Yvette Baker 0800 362 273 yvette@emcare.co.nzYvette qualified as a registered comprehensive nurse in 1995 and has worked in a variety of services before embarking on a career in Neuroscience. Since 2001 Yvette has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist and co-ordinator of the Stroke Service at Auckland City Hospital. This role included collaborating with service providers at local, regional and national levels to influence the processes of care and ensure effective use of precious healthcare resources, ultimately improving the journey of stroke sufferers and their families. The position and scope of practice have provided Yvette with many exciting opportunities in evidence based practice acquisition and facilitation through acute stroke, secondary prevention and rehabilitation research as well as playing an instrumental role in stroke thrombolysis and the development of acute stroke services at ACH. Yvette joined the team at Emcare in April 2014 as the Administration Manager to support her partner Geoff Sim (co-owner and instructor) by facilitating the development and ongoing success of Emcare Services Ltd.

Dave AndersonDavid graduated as a registered nurse in 1992 and has since worked in a number of acute areas including adult and paediatric intensive care, Cruise ships and as a clinical nurse advisor on the code team at Auckland and Starship hospitals. Added to this experience David has completed a Masters in Nursing, Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Management and Post Graduate certificates in Adult Education advanced assessment, and Intensive care. David was a volunteer fire fighter for 5 years and currently holds an authority to practice as a Paramedic. David is an entertaining and knowledgeable member of the Emcare team.

Luke SummersLuke Summers has been training emergency personnel for over ten years. He has trained ambulance staff in South Africa, England, and New Zealand. He is currently employed by The Auckland University of Technology where he lectures on the BHSc-Paramedic programme. Part of this role is working as an Intensive Care Paramedic with St John, taking students on ambulances to consolidate their classroom learning. He is a NZRC CORE Instructor. His teaching focuses on removing the fear and mystery from resuscitation and making complex concepts easy to remember and implement.

Murray AndersonMy name is Murray Anderson. A trained intensive Care Paramedic for over 20 years, I enjoy the role of teaching and coaching. My philosophy is you should understand why you do something not just do it. In my spare time I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter as such I am used to working with multiple services at major incidents and in exercises. I am also a NZRC CORE Instructor. My home is a shift working household my wife is a nurse, my current challenge- teaching my teenager to drive. I enjoy the challenges my life has given me to continuously learn, create and contribute to these activities.

Janina Olivier
Janina is a qualified Paramedic, graduating from Auckland University of Technology in 2008 with a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Paramedicine. She also graduated with a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management in 2008. In 2009 she began working in Hyperbaric Medicine and qualified as a Hyperbaric Chamber Attendant with Hyperbaric Health Ltd. In 2012 she qualified as an Anaesthetic Technician, graduating from Auckland University of Technology with a Diploma in Applied Science and registering with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand in 2013. She qualified as a New Zealand Resuscitation Council CORE Instructor in 2012. Janina was previously a Resuscitation Coordinator for Auckland District Health Board for six years.

Johan Olivier
Johan qualified as an Army medic in South Africa in 1994. He then specialised as a dive medic in 1995 and continued shared duties as an off shore and on shore medic. In 2000 he registered as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant with the Health Professions Council in South Africa. Johan was a First Aid instructor in the defence force and with BLS medical. In 2008 he moved to New Zealand and took the post as Hyperbaric Technician and Trainer for Hyperbaric Health. He currently works as a dive medical specialist on the Divers Alert emergency hotline. Johan is a New Zealand Resuscitation Council instructor.

Stephanie VosI qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and worked predominantly in General and Cardiac ICU. I am qualified in Professional Coaching and Supervision I also have NLP Master Practitioner certification. I am a NZRC Advanced Resuscitation Certified Instructor since 2004 and completed a Post Graduate Certificate Endorsed in Resuscitation in 2005. Currently working for Southern District Health Board in Dunedin in the role of Resuscitation and Mandatory Training Coordinator and have been in this role since October 2016. Prior to this I worked for Waitemata District Health Board as Team Leader of the Resuscitation Education Team. As part of my role I attend Clinical emergencies in the hospital and ensure I stay current with new trends and research in resuscitation by attending conferences and other Professional Development opportunities. Part of this role include provision of coaching and debrief to staff during and after clinical emergencies. My passion for coaching and resuscitation education keeps me excited about teaching both in hospital and community settings.

Isaac TengIsaac is originally from Singapore but has lived in the Manawatu since 1997. After his military service in Singapore, he completed a BHSc Paramedicine in 2015 with further post graduate studies in primary health. Isaac worked full time as a UCC endorsed Paramedic with St John Ambulance before deciding to pursue a MBChB degree with the University of Auckland in 2018. He is currently based in Counties Manukau DHB in his 4th year of Medical School and works as a casual Paramedic and NZRC CORE Instructor. Isaac is passionate about education and enjoys helping remove the complex barriers in resuscitation education. He loves the outdoors and spends his free time whitewater kayaking and mountain biking.

Dr Jonathon WebberDr Jonathon Webber
Jonathon Webber is an NZRC CORE Advanced Instructor and Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesiology at the University of Auckland. He was formerly a Resuscitation Officer at Auckland City Hospital and outside of his code-team experience in this role, his clinical background is in the field of pre-hospital emergency care, including first response, ambulance, and event medical care. He is a member of the Surf Life Saving New Zealand Medical Advisory Group and secretary of the International Life Saving Federation Medical Committee. An active academic and researcher, he has recently completed a Doctorate in Professional Practice through Middlesex University London. Jonathon’s specific areas of interest are: human factors, airway management, defibrillator technology, drowning, and first aid/resuscitation guideline development. |
